A pleasant 15 minute drive brings you to the pretty town of Bourganeuf where you will find a choice of bars from an informal steak-house/pizza parlour to restaurants serving excellent French cuisine, 2 supermarkets, convenience store, boulangerie, patisserie with some truly delicious confectionary, banks, post office, pharmacies, tourist office, churches, 9 hole golf course (with good restaurant close by) and tennis courts.
There is a weekly market selling locally grown/produced fruit and vegetables, cheeses, meats, breads, and some wonderful seafood, with a bar on the market square for you to relax and enjoy a morning coffee.
In the town centre you will find the beautiful 15th century church of St. Jean with its ornate painted arches inside, lovely stained glass windows and a 19th century organ which has been lovingly restored using the original pipes.
The Musee de l’Electrification celebrates and displays a social and economic insight into the history of producing electricity, Bourganeuf being the third town in France to receive modern day electricity.
