The beautiful city of Limoges, is famous for its exquisite porcelain and wonderful architecture. There are many terrace restaurants serving good quality food and fine wine, lots of individualist shops and boutiques where you will find unusual gifts made by local artisans.

There is the wonderful Gothic Cathedral of St-Etienne with its beautiful stained glass windows, pretty botanical and herbal gardens with lovely fountains.

The municipal museum displays one of the largest collections of world-famous enamels and paintings by Renoir.

A stroll through the fascinating ' butchers quarter ', which dates back to medieval times, brings you to the 17th Century Chapelle de Aurelien with its stunning ornate statues and artwork.

The indoor covered market dates back to 1878 and has a lovely porcelain frieze depicting the foods found within.

There are lots of restaurants close by continuing the markets' tradition

The railway station is also of great architectural interest with a 60 meter high clock tower and oriental dome. Inside there are sculptures and stained glass windows to admire.
