Many guests consider autumn/winter the perfect time to explore the Limousin area. Autumn is generally mild with crisp, bright and sunny days. What could be more perfect than a winter walk enjoying the magnificent colours of the Creuse whilst collecting chestnuts and mushrooms along the way.

The barn is tastefully decorated for the season with a roaring log fire and abundance of wood for your stay. A festive hamper containing a piece of home reared organic meat, with a selection of home/locally grown seasonal vegetables, cheeses, pates, fine wine, champagne and chocolates is given with our compliments.
The beautiful city of Limoges has a wonderful atmosphere at this time of year, including Christmas markets, where you can enjoy a days shopping finding the most unusual gifts and confectionary, with lots of bars and restaurants open for lunch. The ‘petite train’ runs early evening in December taking you on a tour of the city to admire the lovely display of lights.
The area has many beautiful churches holding regular services throughout December. A drive through some stunning countryside brings you to the striking Abbey of Benevent where carol concerts are held.

With over 1,000km of woodland in the Creuse you will be spoilt for choice!. Or an exhilarating walk through some very pretty countryside takes you down to the lake at Chatelus, with a multitude of pine trees giving it a very ‘Swiss’ feel.
At the local weekly market you will have the opportunity of sampling/buying some of the chestnut delicacies this area is famous for.
